Title
MainStreet Plainfield
Description
Through the joint efforts of the public and the private segments of the community, MainStreet Plainfield, Inc. was created to enhance the physical, the cultural, the social and the economic development of the downtown, while promoting community pride.
Founded in 1834, Plainfield is the oldest community in Will County. That element of tradition continues to the present day, and we all need to remember that the only way we can predict the future is by understanding the past. The elements of computers, malls and commuters tend to draw attention away from the rich family traditions and wonderful activities, which are present in our fine community. MainStreet Plainfield is dedicated to supporting and to strengthening the vitality of the Heart of Plainfield along with heightening the awareness of our surrounding communities. The long-established retail businesses services, churches, schools, civic, historic and cultural organizations are the "Life Blood" of Plainfield.
Plainfield is about 40 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, Illinois. The location of Plainfield is of historical significance as two of the most famous roads of the first part of the 20
