- Madendesigns consists of Al and Terrie Maden. We are located near Tonasket Washington in North central Washington. It is a very rural area in the largest county in the state, with the lowest per acre population. That makes for some great outdoor recreation, summer has fishing hiking and gold prospecting. Winter has skiing and snowmobiling plus ice fishing. We are only about 30 minutes from the Pasayten wilderness area and the Okanogan National forest. Being surrounded by all this natural beauty is more inspiration than could ever be used up. We have a large number of local artists, painters and carvers both wood and stone. The valley we live in is considered high desert but has an irrigation system that allows the farming of fruit orchards and hay crops, for the most part. The area is also known for gold and silver production in the past. We still have a couple of operating gold mines within an hour by car. Having over 15 years of stained glass design and construction, lampwork seemed a natural move for us. Little did we know it would become an obession! The background in sketch and metal working was like training for hot glass as well. Eventually I will post some of our own pics of the area on this page.
