London Regional Cancer Program - Welcome
Description
London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP), formerly the London Regional Cancer Centre, is the cancer services unit of London Health Sciences Centre. LRCP is funded by the Ministry of Health through Cancer Care Ontario and has served the people of Southwestern Ontario since 1952. Our catchment area has a population base of 1.8 million.
Patients must be referred to the program by their family physician or surgeon and have a diagnosed malignancy. LRCP provides radiation therapy and chemotherapy as well as a full range of services to help patients and their families including counselling, nutrition, pharmacy, information and education, support groups, volunteers and library. The treatment team consists of doctors (medical or radiation oncologists), surgeons, radiation therapists, nurses, physicists, social workers, pharmacists, medical technologists, and dietitians. Accommodation is available at Thameswood Lodge for cancer patients who have to travel more than 40 km to access treatment.
Our current facility was opened in May of 1988 on the Victoria-West Campus of London Health Sciences Centre. Major expansion projects in 1998 and 2004 have increased our radiation and chemotherapy treatment capacities as well as providing increased research facilities.
