- My husband and I adopted our daughter Jayne from Cambodia eight years ago. Lotus Jayne began in late 2005, when, after having purchased a handwoven silk scarf at a Cambodian culture class as a gift for my friend Katie, she and I shared our amazement at its fine workmanship and exotic beauty. Realizing that affordable, handwoven 100% silk scarves and other fine handcrafted items from Cambodia were virtually unknown in the U.S., we decided that the principles of fair trade could guide us in introducing these items to the global marketplace.
