Description
So many older adults in Longmont stand to benefit from the services and support that Longmont Meals on Wheels provides. Their faces are familiar. They are our mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. They are who we will become in a few short years. They've reached "Golden Years," but for some people, these years are tarnished by illness, loneliness, diminished capacity, and loss of independence. Navigating a steep flight of stairs, which leads to the outside world, is impossible. Often far from family, or some having outlived their friends and peers, these individuals may be alone in the world, and they depend on the kindness of their neighbors and services like Longmont Meals on Wheels.
Your generosity provides meals to more than 250 Longmont area seniors each day. Not only does Meals on Wheels deliver meals to area seniors, they serve congregate meals at numerous sites around Longmont, including the Longmont Senior Center. All Longmont residents age 55 and older are invited to have lunch at the Park View Cafe located in the Senior Center, Monday - Friday from 11:30 to 12:00. Cost per meal is based on a sliding scale.
Consider the difference you can make for a homebound older adult who cannot manage daily tasks such as shopping and food preparation. Even a small investment of your time or money can make a big difference in the quality of life for one of your neighbors.
