The Firm was founded in the late 1930's by René Loeb, who brought with him from Strasbourg, France extensive experience in the private banking business. Mr. Loeb, later joined by Charles J. Block and Leonard Wacksman, built a practice representing European clients who left Europe for Latin America and Asia prior to World War II.
