Victoria, BC–The Etraffic Solutions-sponsored Académie LLEARN (www.llearn.net) saw French as a Second Language (FSL) educators from around the country coming together in Victoria from June 28th - 30th, 2005. They came to exchange ideas and learn the necessary skills, ideas and technical know-how to deliver an effective online FSL course. The three-day conference included workshops on setting up and integrating LLEARN, the Language Learning Environment and Resource Network, into users' curriculum and teaching style.
"Académie LLEARN was an incredible success! We had French teachers from across Canada sharing ideas and learning together," said Robin Poncia, Academie LLEARN Director. "The wonderful thing about the academy is that the learning and sharing hasn't stopped. We have built a community of teachers that will continue to support and learn from one another."
LLEARN was developed by Etraffic Solutions and partially funded by CANARIE (www.canarie.ca), Canada's advanced research and innovation organization. LLEARN is a web-based French language program that delivers French 10, 11, and 12 content specifically for Canadian schools using a pan-Canadian curriculum. It makes use of the whole range of multi-media and Internet technologies, allowing students to listen to, speak, read and write in French. LLEARN brings together best practices in second language teaching and learning with the potential of technology as a learning tool.
