Title
Welcome to The Rotary Club of Llandudno, North Wales
Description
Although there is evidence to suggest that Llandudno was inhabited in prehistoric and Roman times when extensive mining for copper was carried out, it was not until the late 18
centuries that the town really came into existence. The forerunner of the town as it is today was perched high on the slopes of the Great Orme headland in the form of terraces of small cottages where the residents were employed in the copper mines.
The land of Llandudno has from the start been in control of the Mostyn family and from about the beginning of the 1840’s, with the improvement of transport facilities, the character of the town began to change to one of a seaside resort.
