Description

About the Lucy Kinchen Chorale

The Lucy Kinchen Chorale was first established in 2001. Dedicated to renewing awareness and appreciation of the Negro Spiritual, one of America's original and most beautiful art forms, the Chorale is committed to reaching out and touching the hearts and spirits of all. Ms. Kinchen was also the founder and Music Director of the Laney Concert Chorale, which appeared in it's first "Let Us Break Bread Together" concert with the Oakland East Bay Symphony in 1998. No stranger to television appearances, her Laney group was invited to perform on KRON's BayTV's "Voices of the Bay" for three consecutive seasons.

Members of the Lucy Kinchen Chorale personify the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of the greater Bay Area. From members with little formal music training to a Music Professor Emeritus of California State University at Hayward, all voices of the Chorale beautifully reveal a total devotion, appreciation, and deep love of music. Celebrated for their inspirational, passionate, and deeply moving performances of the Negro Spiritual, the Lucy Kinchen Chorale is also noted for other repertoires. Their classics, madrigals, musical theater, and traditional seasonal music have also graced halls and sanctuaries throughout the Bay Area.
