- St. Francis of Assisi received a call to do a makeover of the Church. At first he took it literally and tried to refurbish a broken-down church, but then realized the real makeover was first of himself by imitating Jesus and then of others through his example of Christlike living. Only then could he become a “pillar” to hold up the church (see our cover and the Household Ritual, p. 7, to use our cover for prayer or sharing).
