The Pryometry Laboratory has been developing an alexandrite effect spectropyrometer for measuring temperature up to 100,000 degree. The pyrometer can measure a radiating body with any type of spectral radiation. It can measure the temperature of a radiating body with spectral lines, other types of pyrometer cannot!
The research projects in the Optics Laboratory include the optimal design of colored glass filter, a gemological UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer, and the optical phenomena in the nature and gemstones.
