Jackson and her sister, Nancy Bush, grew up in a small timber town in Oregon. They both attended Oregon State University and landed jobs in the banking industry.

In 1981, when both women had young children Bush, suggested they try their hands at writing romance novels. Bush had read that young mothers like the two women had begun their careers by typing late at night after the children were put to bed, the last diaper changed, the last bottle washed. Jackson wasn't convinced. Neither of the women had read romance as they were both mystery/thriller buffs. However, Jackson had quit her job in the banking/investment field to be with her kids and had always loved to write. She was currently babysitting for other people and decided to give writing a chance. She, her sister and a friend penned their first romance novel which was rejected all over New York.

But Jackson and Bush were hooked. Undaunted by rejection slips, they attacked the market with a new-found vengeance, reading every article about writing and every romance novel they could get their hands on. Bush sold her teen novel to Silhouette First Love in 1981 and Jackson followed the next year with an adult novel, A TWIST OF FATE which was published by Silhouette Books in 1983. Two new writers were born!
