Description
Lin de Mol is a Dutch artist currently based in Amsterdam. She studied sculpture and film/video at the Rietveld- and Rijksacademie in Amsterdam and later attended additional studies in film- and computer technique in Dublin and the United States.
Her films are condensed through exact framing and editing; she uses only the essential to tell a story. Her imagery is of a surreal atmosphere: the films map out the elusive structure of the subconsious mind. The disturbing interference of dreams create a constant tension between fiction and reality. The viewer gets drawn into this personal world as if seen through his/her own eyes.
She is represented in Amsterdam by the Lumen Travo Gallery and the Priska C. Juschka Fine Art Gallery in New York. Her video works and short films are distributed by the Netherland Institute for Media Art, Montevideo/Time Based Arts (all works on view in the media library) and have been shown at international festivals in Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States.
