Description
Puppies trying hard to be good!
Jason has been in the breed, competing in field trials, since the early 1990s. Two of the highlights of his career have been handling a dog he bred, NFC FC Lighthouse Reverence, to the 2003 National Field Trial Championship title, and being the recipient of the 2004 Hogan award for the top Professional handler of English springer spaniels in the country.
Situated on 120 acres about an hour Northeast of Madison, Wisconsin, Lighthouse Kennels has a range of cover and water to test your dog's skills. Our cover options include a large switch grass field, several native grass fields, a light brome field, a small pine woods (with a quail hutch), and a stand of willows (with a quail hutch). You can practice water retrieves in our pond or in the creek. We prefer using positive methods whenever possible, and try to use the least physical correction we can when discipline is necessary.
We do utilize an electronic collar in some training instances. The most common circumstance is after we have trained a dog to be steady to wing and shot, but he opts to chase a bird. We then use the collar as a remote correction, at a very low setting.
