Let's be honest, one of the problems with the church and religion is hypocrisy in general. We all know people who speak something high and holy and then live a life that is a complete contradiction. The bible has a lot to say about these kinds of people. The bible also has a lot to say about religious people who come together to put on a show who seem only interested in impressing each other. Needless to say, what the bible has to say concerning this kind of behavior isn't good.
We think that most of the people you will meet at Lemon Grove Christian are real people. Each of us have come out of different and yet very similar situations - upheaval, tragedy, and family strife. Each of us at one level or another are simply trying to survive life. This reality is one of the things that binds our people together regardless of age, color, background, and economic situation. We are in fact a true cross-section of our diverse community. We are 400 people with 400 stories, with our doors always open for another story - yours perhaps. We gather each weekend around the most important story of all. It is the story of the living God constantly calling us to a deeper relationship with Him.
We're independent, which means that we don't belong to any denomination. The story of how denominations began and what they are about today is a long one - about a 1900 year long story. Since we don't have the time, here is what a condensed version might look like in a children's story book.
