Lexington located 10 miles south of Interstate 40, midway between Memphis and Nashville is the county seat of Henderson County. Lexington is positioned 35.65 degrees north of the equator and 88.39 degrees west of the prime meridian with an average elevation of 500 feet above sea level. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,849, an increase of 1,039 since 1990. Latest census 2000 is 7,393.
