Arriving in New Zealand as immigrants was exciting but daunting. We came with a job offer (and some help from the company) but it was still a culture shock, not least for our children.
We simply had no idea about the health care system, the education system, whether we could have life insurance, where to organise a driving test, which areas were considered 'good', which school years our children would enter etc. etc.
In short, despite having spent hours in the preceding weeks scouring the internet for relevant information, we were still ill-prepared for moving literally half way around the world.
