Les Amis du Plein Air is a non-profit association working in co-operation with Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We are an independent association governed by an elected board of directors from local communities.
We were first established in 1974 as an outdoor club promoting many kinds of wilderness recreational activities. In 1981, we began our cooperatingrelationship with the Park, thus becoming the first National Park Co-operating Association.
We are now one of many such co-ops affiliated with National and Historic Parks across Canada. Other Co-operating Associations include the Friends of the Citadel (Halifax), the Fortress of Louisbourg Volunteers and the Parks and People Association (Prince Edward Island National Park).
