Allan Falconer,the owner and founder of Silky Hosiery Ltd, started his career as a Chartered Accountant, in his home country of South Africa.
He swiftly moved into the textile production field, during the 1970's, as Production Director for a Courtaulds Fabric Mill. He then moved into the hosiery trade in 1985 and has been involved in this sector ever since. Initially Allan was the Chief Executive of the South African Hosiery Company and in 1994 was transferred to the UK to head Pretty Polly Ltd.
He subsequently left Pretty Polly Ltd and embarked upon founding Silky Hosiery Ltd in 1997. From a zero base and merely 2 1/2 years experience in the UK market, this business has grown year on year in both turnover and profit and now encompasses 5 hosiery brands.
In January 2009 we changed our company name to Legwear International Ltd to reflect this expanding portfolio of brands in both the UK and abroad.
The most recent brand acquisition was the Couture brand, which was purchased from Flude hosiery in January 2008. This is an established brand, which due to external pressures over recent years, lost some of its impetus and shine. It is our desire to bring Couture back to its 'heyday' and together we will energize this brand again.
Legwear are now an established wholesaler and retailer of ladies tights, stockings and holdups.
