- In 1939 Arend Lefferts started his own business: a small grocery. When he reached 65, by 1987, he found the perfect gift: a 4-leaf clover planting kit in a 1,5-inch cube. Ever since he has been promoting these Dutch Mini Gardens. In all those years he has manufactured and dispatched all kinds of products, like globes, measuring equipment, etc. In the sixties he run a distribution centre, dispatching all kinds of gifts for promotions of big companies like Mars, BP, Shell, Mobil and other gas companies. He was the one who had the idea for the first coupon-promotions for BP.
