- I was born in New York. My family came to America from India well before I was born. Growing up I was exposed to both Ghazals, from my mother and father; and good old Rock and Roll, compliments of my brother Sanket Vyas a.k.a. Doc Bollywood (he showed me the magic of The Beatles and Pink Floyd before most other kids my age were learning to ride their bikes without training wheels). This exposure at the young age of 7 or eight is the foundation on which my love of music rests. I began playing guitar around ten, then heard an old Ustad Vilayat Khan LP my mother had lying around... I had found IT. My reason for being on this planet. Music and the Ragas.
