Le Bon Café is a chain of coffee restaurants created in Medellin Colombia 13 years ago. LBC represents rural and/or urban initiatives for the sustainable development of the Caribbean and Andean region in an aesthetic and ethical manner according to the Latin American reality. Their company portfolio encompasses a variety of businesses such us: e-reciclaje, a recycling company; EME-Expediciones Makondo Expeditions, consultancy on sustainable tourism; .
Le Bon’s mission statement is to offer handmade products and services made within a loving and free thinking environment with a permanent aim of offering much more than a good cup of coffee among others.
Ethics are at the core of Le Bon’s activities. The company employs approximately 30 people, 53% of which have indefinite contracts (practice disappearing in Colombia), and currently 5 of them are women bread winners; 100% of their coffee is certified and labelled responsible by Utz Kapeh and large proportion of their products are domestic fair traded and organic; 80% percent of their organic waste is recycled or composted; And soon there will be infrastructure in their shops for rain water harvesting and filtering water for washing dishes.
