Description

Formerly located along the Missouri River at the mouth of swan Creek, several miles westof the community of Alaska.

History

Named for Antoin LeBeau, an Indian man who first settled the site in 1875. It is believed that the town name is a corruption of the French word le boeuf or "the buffalo". After this community was abandoned many of the buildings were moved to nearby Glenham. (SD-T17/p66,125)
