Description

Laurence A. Feldman, born in New Jersey, has spent over 30 years working in the field of aerospace engineering and computer science. While serving in the Air Force at a number of government laboratories including the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and the Air Force Armament Laboratory, Larry developed computer software to analyze solid rocket design and trajectory performance, magnetohydrodynamics (energy research), and computational fluid dynamics (aerodynamics). Simultaneously, he developed supporting computer graphics, employing 2-D, 3-D, animation, and current multimedia technology. During his career, he went from the old punch tape and keypunch cards to the world's fastest supercomputers and high-speed graphics devices.

After retiring from the Air Force Reserves as a Lt. Colonel, Larry did contract work including generating a database model of Edwards Air Force Base which is currently deployed aboard the Space Shuttle to aid rehearsal of approach and landing operations prior to descent.

Larry has received five awards for his work, including first prize in an IBM supercomputing contest, two Cray Research Supercomputer "Gigaflop" awards, an Autodesk First Prize in Scientific Graphics, and first prize in MicroCad Magazine’s Engineering Graphics Contest. Larry founded a software company "Creative Visual Software" which developed a 3-D geometric modeler and scientific visualization.
