Lanna Consulting was established by Jeff Petry 7 years ago when Website Promotion was an entirely new field. There have been many changes along the way, and we have stayed abreast all the latest developments, strategies, and necessary software.
Jeff studied computers, languages, and social sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he received his BA in 1986. Prior to that, he had served in the US Air Force as a Vietnamese linguist and cryptologist. He was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines in 1978-79, where his long-term interest and involvement in Southeast Asia was sparked, followed by a stint as a cryptologist in Maryland, USA, where he pursued these and related interests. This was followed by extensive travel throughout North America from Alaska through the lower 48 and Mexico to Belize.
After conducting his ethnographic fieldwork and research on the Karen people in Thailand and Burma under the auspices of the Fulbright Foundation, followed by a 6-month internship in Sri Lanka, he completed his Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Rice University, Houston, Texas, in 1993.
