Founded in 1922 by Charles Lane Lane Office, originally Lane Scientific Equipment Corporation, supplied special storage equipment to laboratories. As World War II came to a close Charles Lane saw an opportunity to expand his business to the contract furniture market by representing wood and steel furniture manufacturers. He changed the name of the company to Lane Office Equipment and built an excellent reputation in the New York area.
