A Brief History
The Inn was built in 1890 as the summer home of wealthy bachelor and lumber man, Howard Conkling. No expense was spared for his home. 12' beamed ceilings, chestnut wainscoting and fabulous keyhole staircase enhance the spacious great room, now used as the guest sitting area. TV, chess, Scrabble, games and books are available. Sit by the fire, or in summer months, take a walk in the perennial garden or rock on the wrap around porch.
Purchased in 1984 and restored by Gene and Linda Merlino, the 1890 Victorian building now boasts a spacious sun porch dining room, a grand guest sitting area and 8 bedrooms, 2 of which are Jacuzzi - Fireplace Suites and 5 have fireplaces. A restored Brookside Guest House with 2 Fireplace bedrooms and the Carriage House , built in 1996 with 5 fireplace bedrooms, 4 of which have double Jacuzzi, the 5th room is wheel chair accessible. All buildings share the Inns' wooded and trailed 10 acres surrounded by towering white pines.
Relax on the porches, or by the fire, or take advantage of the many activities the southern Adirondack, Lake George, Saratoga Springs area has to offer.
