Lambda Chi Alpha - Mercer University
Description
About Us
Lambda Chi Alpha was founded at Boston Univesity in 1909 and has become the 3rd largest Fraternity in the Nation. Lambda Chi was chartered at Mercer University as the Zeta Omega Zeta Chapter in 1947. In 1985, the fraternity lodge, located where what is now the University Center, caught fire and was completely destroyed. Brothers, Alumni, local Fraternities, and national donors pulled together to build a new lodge which stood until May 2000 when Mercer tore down Greek Row in preparation for its replacement, Greek Village, in August 2000. Lambda Chi Alpha celebrated its re-chartering at Mercer in 2001. We also had the honor of initiating the 200,000th brother of Lambda Chi Alpha in 1991. Recently, Zeta Omega won the Dean's Cup in 2003, recognizing the best fraternity on Mercer's campus and in 2004 won the Intramural Cup, recognizing the winning of IFC 2003-2004 Intramurals.
Lambda Chi Alpha partners with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank to raise canned goods and fiscal donations for Macon's needy. Each year we hold several fundraisers and conduct a city-wide Food Drive. Our Philanthropy, known nationally as the North American Food Drive, is the largest of its kind in America.
"All work and no play" isn't a phrase you'll hear around Lambda Chi often. After all, isn't college also about having fun and being yourself? Each year Lambda Chi Alpha holds some of the best parties on campus. Just ask the girls! From our almost-famous annual Black Light party, to wild Formals, to off-the-wall Mixers, Lambda Chi's Social Chair never fails to satisfy.
