- Lake Cumberland is one of the ten largest man-made lakes in the country. Located 70 miles south of Lexington and 45 miles west of Somerset, this scenic lake covers over 63,000 acres with more than 1,200 miles of federally protected shoreline. With all types of water sports, camping, hiking and more, Lake Cumberland has become one of the finest recreational areas in the Eastern United States.
