The hillside community of Ladera, founded in 1946, has a fascinating history with its beginnings as a Spanish Land Grant farm and ranch, then a cooperative housing experiment, and now a thriving and independent unincorporated community.Located in San Mateo County, California, it now has over 500 homes. The Ladera Community Association (LCA) focuses on community-wide issues, activities, and communications. The Ladera Recreation District (LRD) oversees the recreation facilities.
