Workers at Kysor Panel Systems were welding when sawdust ignited and a fire spread to nearby pallets, according to the Goodyear Fire Department.
Emergency crews responded about 12:30 p.m. to find grass and debris on fire behind a building in the 3800 block of South Bullard Avenue, south of Maricopa County 85, said Battalion Chief Russ Braden, a Goodyear fire spokesman.
No one was injured and the fire was extinguished in about 40 minutes, Braden said.
Kysor Panel Systems, a Fort Worth, Texas-based company, builds walk-in refrigerators and freezers for supermarkets and convenience stores.
