About the Artist
Kitty Brophy is a native of California, but grew up in Arizona and then lived in New York City where she studied art at The Parsons School of Design. After twelve years in Manhattan she moved back to California, first to Los Angeles, and then Santa Cruz where she received her undergraduate degree in Creative Writing at the University of California. She now resides and paints in Cambria, a small artists' community on the coast of Central California.
Kitty's boldly colored and graphic paintings, are often inspired by her many photographic journeys around the West, Southwest, Mexico, and Baja California. She also enjoys painting her vivid watercolor and acrylic paintings from her imagination, and working with clients on commissions that reflect a mutually inspired vision. Her paintings have been exhibited in California, New Mexico and Colorado, and are in private collections throughout the United States.
In addition to her paintings, Kitty is also an avid nature photographer. Her color photographs are featured on one of the North Coast Small Wilderness Area Preservation web sites and newsletter, donated to charitable auctions; featured on executive promotional brochures; and sold as photo greeting cards.
