My wife bought a KitchenAid coffee maker; it has a strainer inside the top; do I need to put a bag in first? Or do I just put the coffee grains directly in the strainer? I’m not sure if that’s the brew basket or the water filter. I found the manual online and it says, “Insert a 10-12 cup flat-bottom paper filter or the gold tone permanent filter into the brew basket.
