Description
Dan
Michael Forster was born in England in 1943 and emigrated to Canada in 1964. He began training under Master Chol Kim in the spring of 1969 and trained diligently, constantly improving and striving for perfection. His devotion to Hapkido was unparalleled and in 1971 Master Kim moved away, leaving the Korean Hapkido Institute in Master Forster's charge.
Master Forster spent the years that followed developing the Korean Hapkido Institute, teaching his students, and mastering the art of Hapkido. Over the years Master Forster trained regularly with Grandmaster Song, Jae Han and his brother Master Song, Jae Sam and developed a strong tie to the Canadian Hapkido Association. He also sought out instruction and input from other masters around North America. Master Forster is especially grateful to Grandmaster Ji, Han Jae and Grandmaster Myung, Kwang Sik.
The Korean Hapkido Institute fluorished under Master Forster and the club developed a reputation for having one of the most traditional and challenging curriculums in North America. Master Forster has never bowed to the forces of commercialism as so many other martial arts clubs around him have. His pursuit of excellence has been never-ending and his reputation has repeatedly attracted students from other clubs to his school.
