Mr. Johnson Githaka the Managing Director Kenya Reinsurance Corporation holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics & Government and a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication, from the University of Nairobi. He worked with the University of Nairobi as a Senior Administrator before becoming a Deputy Secretary in the Office of the President. He joined Kenya Reinsurance Corporation in 1994 as Manager Corporate Affairs. Prior to his appointment as the Managing Director in November 2002, Mr. Githaka was the General Manager in charge of Property and Corporate Affairs Department.
Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited was established in December 1970 under the State Reinsurance Corporation Act of the laws of Kenya Chapter 485.
Initially, the Corporation was referred to as the State Reinsurance Corporation of Kenya. The name was later changed to Kenya Reinsurance Corporation under the provisions of the 1977 Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act. Also popularly known as Kenya Re.
