Title
Counselling, Physiotherapy, Aromatherapy in Elgin and Grampian, Scotland - Balance Natural Therapy
Description
I obtained the Advanced Diploma in Counselling from Moray College in 2004 after undergoing their three year part-time course. I now work one afternoon a week at Huntly Health Centre. I have undergone the Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland training and am working as one of their volunteer counsellors, looking to be accredited in the near future. I have been accepted as one of the counsellors for Insight, the counselling service for Moray's Women's Aid.
I qualified as a physiotherapist from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh in 1978 and went to Eire to work in the rehabilitation centre at Dun Loaghaire, Dublin. On returning to Edinburgh, I worked at the City Hospital and for shorter periods at the Royal Infirmary and Bangour Hospital. I then moved North and was at Dr. Gray's Hospital before the demands of 3 children put paid to this type of work. I gradually re-surfaced combining family and work which now included aromatherapy. To enhance my soft tissue skills I have since undertaken the Upledger training in Cranial Sacral Therapy and this is ongoing.
I gained a Diploma in Aromatherapy from the Shirley Price School of Aromatherapy in 1991. Since then I have worked with adults and children with learning difficulties at some of the Cornerstone houses in the Elgin area and the Aberlour Trust's Alba Place premises. Moray Council have, for a number of years, employed me to see several people with multiple sclerosis and I have been asked, from time to time, to see residents in Amderson's. I am also one of the therapists at Balance Natural Therapy, 25 Maxwell Street, Fochabers.
