Kate Elizabeth Winslet was born October 5, 1975 to stage actor Roger Winslet and stage actress Sally Bridges-Winslet. Having been born to a thespian family, Kate was exposed to the acting business at an early age.

She scored her first role in television commercials for Sugar Puffs children�s cereal where she danced with the Honey Monster. Around this same time, Kate started taking acting lessons- leading to her placement at the performing arts high school in Maidenhead. The next few years, she honed her skills taking bit parts in stage theatre and sitcoms.
