Description
The inner circle in a hexagram is what influences one personally. This is the Old Norse symbol of inner balance. (not the mercedes symbol or a misdrawn peace symbol as many have mistakenly thought). What gives me inner peace is following my ancestoral roots to find a balance between the old ways and the new ways of my tribal and family karma.
The middle circle represents how ones influence in the world is felt. I relate to the five pointed star from many cultural influences. It represents the human - head, two arms and two legs. It is the 5 element system of feng shui and Chinese medicine. It is about education and humanism. It is a Wiccan symbol and the center of the apple that teaches us the earth spiritual ways. And it is to me the star that leads us to our inner divinity and Christ nature as the astrologers of old were led to the birth place of Jesus.
The outer circle represents ourself to the universal. This is the Medicine Wheel for me. In 1988 I began my studies of the different Medicine Wheels of the pre-Christian cultures including the Native Americans whose spirituality still sings in the land I grew up in (Minnesota). The colors on my wheel are the Ojibwe, with the red in the south and blue rather than black in the west. I use the characters of the Lakota Wheel as they have integrated within me. We all carry the wheel within ourselves and it is my guide to following a path that honors all the ancestors and creates a healthy future for the next seven generations.
