Kariba Houseboats in Zimbabwe and Walking Safaris from Sengwa
Description
Welcome! Titambirei! Samukele! To Zimbabwe. We would like you to get the most out of your visit to our country, so this is where to start. Zimbabwe is packed with fascinating secret places and explosive panoramas. It is one of those rare places where you could spend months in one area and always be enthralled. The best way to explore is to speak to the local people who are always ready to impart knowledge. Enjoy the cultures, the wildlife and the scenery…. And take your time!
The main geological feature in Zimbabwe is the Great Dyke, which runs roughly North to South for 530 kilometres. This intrusion is the source of many of the country’s minerals. The main watershed runs Northeast to Southwest. The rivers generally run northwards from the highveld to the Zambezi system or southward to the Save-Limpopo system. There is also the large granite range of mountains in the Eastern Highlands, which include the Nyanga, and Chimanimani Mountains. The highveld and Eastern Border areas have the mildest climates, whilst the Zambezi and Limpopo valleys can become extremely hot in the summer.
It is fascinating to note the changes in vegetation whilst passing through different areas of the country. For instance the low altitude areas for the north and south of the countries are dominated by Mopane woodland; the Teak forests are only found in the deep Kalahari sand such as in the Hwange National Park area; and montane grasslands are predominant in the Eastern Highlands
