Sharon Sackin, creator of June Bug Art Glass, is a retired psychotherapist who lives in Southern California. Her love of glass jewelry started with a dear friend who owned a striking fused-glass jewelry pin. He wore it frequently for many years, until one day he lost it. As a close friend, Sharon was inspired to replace the pin. The artist who created the pin no longer produced them and it was impossible to obtain anything similar. Sharon took it upon herself to take an art glass class and create a new pin in order to instill it with sentimental value. Since then, she has continued to express her individuality by designing unique fused glass jewlery. As a source of further inspiration, Sharon instinctively draws from her world travels with colors inherent in Nature. From the splendid plumage of the humming birds in Costa Rica to the exotic flowers of the Orient, she is always applying Nature's unique color patterns and intensities to the designs of her glass jewelry.
Glass jewelry comes in a full spectrum of colors and an array of patterns and textures with highly reflective qualities. June Bug Art Glass creates jewelry from sheet, iridescent and dichroic glass.
• Dichroic glass is the combining of colors which are refracted from within. When dichroic glass is viewed from different angles, the colors will show differently within the piece.
