Description
Judith Joseph is Chicago-area painter, calligrapher and educator. She has created hundreds of commissioned works for individuals and public institutions, and her specialty is the Ketubah (Hebrew illuminated marriage contract, an illustrated calligraphic work used in Jewish weddings).
In addition to her painting and illustration commissions, she creates and exhibits paintings in oil, egg tempera and watercolor, and painted works on glass. Her work has been recognized by the Illinois Arts Council with Artist's Fellowship Awards in 1998 and 2004. She teaches painting at the Chicago Botanic Garden, the North Shore Art League, the The Art Center, Highland Park and New Trier Extension.
She spends a lot of time in the woods with her husband, Ted, and their three sons, Cameron, Ethan and Emmett. She is an animal lover whose family life is greatly enhanced by the presence of Willow, a beloved and spoiled golden retriever.
