Cranley for Congress
Description
John Cranley was born in Green Township and grew up in Price Hill – where his home is today. John comes from a long family tradition of service to Greater Cincinnati and the country.
Both of John’s grandfathers served our country proudly. His paternal grandfather served in World War II in the United States Navy and became a well-known surgeon who started vascular surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital – where two of his uncles practice today. His maternal grandfather was a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. His father, Jay, is a life estate planner and Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Army. His mother, Susan, has been a teacher and librarian in the St. Bernard Elmwood Place schools and serves as President of the Cincinnati Public School Board.
John attended St. William’s grade school and St. Xavier for high school, where his long term commitment to public service emerged. John served as a tutor in Winton Place Schools, as a big buddy at the Espy Boys Club in Lower Price Hill, as a volunteer at St. John's Social Services Center in Over-the-Rhine, and as a participant on a summer mission trip with Jesuit priests to the Dominican Republic. Upon graduating from St. Xavier High School, he was awarded the Jesuit Secondary Education Association Award for demonstrating the ideals of leadership and service.
