Jamie Griffiths is a visual artist, living in Canada, originally from the UK.
Her nude photography of queer subcultures in London, USA and Canada, have been published around the world since 1992, originally in a publishing deal with SoHo Galleries of San Francisco. She was described at that time as a female alternative to Herb Ritts. Her work has also been compared by reviewers to Joel Peter Witkin, since some of her work also explored body modification and sado-masochism sub-cultures, with some intense imagery resulting.
Since 2000 Jamie shifted to the creation of films and new media performance work. Her website contains a video gallery and periodically updated reports on her current projects. She has been creating live performance films for orchestra, opera and dance since that time.
In 2004, Jamie began performing in her creations. 'GRACE' - an Electro-Visual Hi-Tech Dance show, was created and performed with Joe Laughlin of Joe Ink, and has since been performed in the UK, Canada and Korea. 'COMMON' - a Visio-Sonic eploration of prayer and commonality, has been premiered in Canada, and is currently in a second research stage for expansion to a global touring project including prayer, song and dance as a multi-cultural arts vehicle to promote global peace and understanding between the faiths of the world.
