- The quest for "The Finest Jerky on the Planet!" started in 1996 when Jay (the "J" in Jaks) had a flavor in mind that took 2 years to get just right. He produced some, here and there, letting the public test his concoctions had soon had people begging for more. A lot more. It was then, in 1999, that his longtime buddy Kyle (the "K" in Jaks) stopped by on a Friday night while Jay was cutting some jerky. Kyle thought it would be an adventure to learn how to cut various cuts of meat so he joined in soon after . One Friday became two and then four, and then we lost count...
