Description
Deep in the heart of Oregon wine country, Jake Price mixes country charm, hard work, and a dash of showmanship into a winning spirit. This spirit and a long tradition of championships makes Jake Price Stables the leader in equestrian training. Jake didn't always dream of championships however, after spending most of his childhood on a small ranch in Northern California, he and a friend joined the US Air Force at age 17 and swore to never return to the small town life style. Shortly after enlisting, Jake was promoted to General's Aide whereupon he was recognized as Far East "First Term Airman of the Year". After his tour in the Air Force Jake took up residence in Seattle, but horses are in Jakes blood so he threw his saddle and some tools in the back of his old Corolla and moved to Bainbridge Island. There Jake was at home, shoeing horses, gelding goats, and trimming llamas.
With Jake's love of horses rekindled, he soon became an assistant trainer for Joe Biles, in Beaverton, Oregon. Under Joe Biles tutelage Jake developed a love and admiration for the Tennessee Walking Horse. Soon fellow horsemen revered Jake as a superior trainer and showman, and within five years Jake had his own stables. Jake's list of championship horses includes Saddlebreds, Morgans, Shetland Hackneys, Standardbreds, Quarter Horses, Paso Finos, and of course the Tennessee Walking Horse.
Jake Price has trained such notable horses as Hall of Famer Sun Eden's Super Sonic, winner of 36 straight blue ribbons, 96 pieces of silver in major west coast shows, and Supreme Versatility Champion Walking Horse. More recently Jake took the 1996 Reserve World Champion Plantation Driving Horse award with Money Talks. In 1989 he earned Reserve World Champion Horse with Mr. Generator. Jake twice won the World Champion Morgan Horse title, and doubled his pleasure riding Triton Ryan to back to back Reserve World Morgan Horse championships in 1981 and 1982. In 1986 and 1988 he was voted "Trainer of the Year".
