About Us

The Associazione italo-americana "Luciano Finelli" builds upon the work of two important organizations long affiliated with the Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University, L'Associazione di studio e cultura italo-americana and L'Associazione Bologna - Johns Hopkins University.

L'Associazione di studio e cultura italo-americana was founded in 1964 by Dr. Luciano Finelli. Dr. Finelli served as president of the association from its founding until his death in 1993, when he was succeeded by his daughter, Dr. Francesca Elisa Finelli. Dr. Finelli's association, which worked to strengthen the ties between the city of Bologna and the Americans living in the city by organizing cultural events and courses in American English, was dissolved in 2001.

L'Associazione Bologna - Johns Hopkins University, founded in 1984 by Giuseppe Gazzoni-Frascara, was for many years an invaluable point of contact between the Bologna Center and the city of Bologna. From the time of its founding to its dissolution in 2001 the group provided the Bologna Center with significant support in the form of grants and student scholarships.
