Description
Irish Equine has it's home at Brownstown Stud Farm, Kildare, from which it's international bloodstock, sportshorse, racing, breeding and thoroughbred operations are run. Brownstown Stud Farm is the oldest continuous Stud Farm in the World. It's tradition goes back to the middle of the eighteenth century and has been the source of many influential Mares and Stallions.
In 1833, The Irish Birdcatcher was born at Brownstown. He stood as a Stallion on the property and his decendents still graze the paddocks of not only Brownstown but most of the major Stud Farms in the world. The great Racehorse, Gallinule stood as a Stallion at Brownstown but perhaps the most influential horse to have been based here was the great Nasrullah, prior to his departure to Bull Hancock's Claiborne Farm in Kentucky. Of all the great mares that have been on Brownstown, perhaps the most famous is Feemoss. Feemoss had three foals by Le Levanstell who was also born and bred by the McGrath Family. The produce were Levmoss, Gr.1 Ascot Gold Cup and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Gr.1. Champion Racehorse of his generation. Le Moss, Ascot Gold Cup Gr.1 (twice), Goodwood Cup (twice), Doncaster Cup (twice) and the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. Sweet Mimosa, Prix Diane Gr.1, Chantilly.
Tom Conolly, one of Virginia McGrath's fore-fathers, was the first Master of the Kildare Foxhounds. The Conolly-Carew Family has been synomous with the Sportshorse since 1793. This tradition has been continued through Virginia. Like her father before her she has represented her Country in eventing at the Olympics. Like her Aunt, Diana Conolly-Carew, she is Ireland's Leading Rider.
