With the advent of the hybrid vehicles, IonRide, one of the emerging companies in automotive research and development (R&D), is currently working on the design of a plug-in electric hybrid vehicle (PHEV). The PHEV can be viewed as an electric vehicle (EV) equipped with a small gasoline engine driven generator for on-board charging. Also, as its name implies, this vehicle requires plugging to an external wall plug electrical source for recharging.
