Description
The Indian Orthopaedic Association represents Orthopaedic Surgeons in the country. It has over 6000 members. It is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year in 2005
• “National Initiative for Trauma Awareness”: This is a campaign to make lay public aware of the need to reach out to victims of road traffic accident victims. More than a lac of young lives are lost annually on Indian roads; while nearly five times the number suffer from the after effects of trauma on the road. The campaign aims at teaching basic principles of first aid to the lay public including School & College students, police personnel, drivers, cleaners, and members of other social groups. It also aims to encourage people to reach out and help victims of road accidents. An early proper first aid will make a difference.
Publication of articles in the print media. T.V talk shows. Demonstrations of first aid and resuscitation in Schools/Colleges/Clubs/etc. Distribution of cds on first aid and emergency disaster management brought out especially by the Association.
