Description
The International School of Stuttgart e.V. offers an education to students between the ages of 3 and 18 years. ISS is a private, non-profit institution (Verein) which was founded in 1985 to serve the needs of the local international community. It is governed by a Board of Directors elected by parents, who are automatically members of the Verein. The school is accredited by the European Council of Interational Schools, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is recognised by the local state of Baden-Württemberg.
The school is situated in Degerloch, a suburb on the southwestern edge of Stuttgart. It is accessible by public transport and by road from the town center or from the autobahn system surrounding Stuttgart.
The ISS student body is truly multicultural, with students from about 30 different nations. The faculty is similarly diversified, with qualified professionals representing 15 nationalities. All teachers have at least a bachelors degree (or its equivalent) and/or a home country teaching certificate. Many also have advanced degrees.
